hello!

I’m Lauren and I’m so glad you’re here. You’ll find book recs as well as bits and pieces of my every day life.

cabin weekend.

I spent the weekend talking, laughing, eating, and hiking with some of the best women I knew. It was a glorious weekend away and I have not laughed that much/that hard in a very, very long time. Also! My first airbnb experience was definitely a success. The people who owned this cabin were so great and let us traipse around all over their property.

It was time specifically set aside to slow down and enjoy the gift of not constantly running around. I hate that it took a weekend away for me to really rest but I'm also so incredibly thankful for it. As the end of the semester looms ahead (hallelujah!), the respite from grad school was a glorious one. I feel ready to take on the next three weeks and finish the year strong. Yes, YEAR. Which means that I am so stinking close to being done with the end of my first year of grad school. There is a teeny, tiny light somewhere way down at the end of the tunnel...but it's there!

"This is the most profound spiritual truth I know: that even when we're most sure that love can't conquer all, it seems to anyway. It goes down into the rat hole with us, in the guise of our friends, and there it swells and comforts. It gives us second winds, third winds, hundredth winds." -Anne Lamott, Traveling Mercies: Some Thoughts on Faith
